We are dependent upon the instantaneousness, connectivity, and perfection that the computer provides. But what we make up in ease and speed we lose in direct brain cognition. The perception, problem solving, and analytical visual deductive processing are all bettered by practiced sketching. The mastery of software alone cannot create appealing design or compelling, intuitive solutions.

It never seems connected to anything that resembles team work. Indeed, everyone has a job title and has some things they are particularly good at, but everyone also has the ability to generate ideas. Start with a team meeting—a brainstorming session that everyone involved with the project can attend. Communication by way of story is the collective history of all people regardless of culture. Storytelling is not only the way we talk but, more importantly, how we are ultimately understood by others. It’s the difference between putting someone to sleep with a string of unillustrated facts or the inability to ignite emotion, or creating excitement and action with a succinct tale of human experience. Accurate communication is almost never derived from content alone; the majority is a combination of verbal and non-verbal cues—vocal tone, gestures, eye contact, and facial expression.
